West of Cummins on Lower Eyre Peninsula, the Kapinnie Lakes orienteering area is quite unique; it consists of fast-run open agricultural and pastoral land in and around numerous lakes, generally dry and crossable in summer and water-covered and more exciting in the wetter months. Climb is negligible, and for that reason the map has no contour detail. Hard, moderate and easy courses are available for all ages, levels of skill and experience.
To get there, take a leisurely drive to Cummins; turn left onto Bratten Way just beyond Cummins Oval, and follow this road for about 12km where an orienteering sign will direct you right onto Yeltukka Road. Orienteering signs will lead you a further 13km to the event area.
