Cross country orienteering event at Broccoli Hill (near Coffin Bay)

Start anytime between 10:30am to 12:30pm.

Start Location: Access to the area will be via Coffin Bay which is slightly different from previous years. From Port Lincoln, you will need to travel into Coffin Bay and turn left before the caravan park on Giles Rd, then left onto Grimm Rd. Follow this for approx. 6km and then turn right at a tee-junction and travel another 5km to the start area. There will be signs out along the way.

The last approx. 10km of access track will be relatively slow – there are a few sections of roughish surface limestone. This section is ideally suited to 4WD. Higher clearance AWD/2WD vehicles, driven with due care, will be fine. For those in smaller 2WD vehicles, you will need to take extra care over rough sections, or if concerned, consider car-pooling with someone with a larger vehicle if possible.

There will be 6 different courses on offer with individual and group categories for each course:

Course 1: Hard long – 5.3k

Course 2: Hard short – 3.9k

Course 3: Hard X – 2.7k

Course 4: Mod long – 3.8k

Course 5: Mod short – 2.6k

Course 6: Easy – 1.7k

Everyone welcome – individuals, groups, beginners

Although it may take a little longer to get to the event, the reward will be a chance to experience one of the best orienteering maps in the country!!
